Climbing A.K Style

Permalink 12:27:52 pm Categories: Life In Korea, Kiwiot Photos

Yet another weekend has flown by far too quickly, but at least it was one with plenty of good memories to make it thru the Mon-Fri grind.

Finally after a year of not attending Seokjin's Adventure Korea trips Tom and I decided it was time to grace him with our presence once again, accompanied by the regular crew of Tim, Chris and Dave.

On the weekends agenda was a little rock climbing, a wee bit of hiking, and a lot of socializing till the early hours of the morning.

Good times great people

Mask Anyone?

Permalink 01:46:31 pm Categories: Life In Korea

You know somethings not right when you come home after an overnight trip to the mountains in Korea to find everyone who's out an about wearing masks.

That's right boys and girls it's yellow dust time and apparantly today, April 1st of all days is one of the worst.

Weather warning issued as year's heaviest yellow dust hits S.Korea

SEOUL, April 1 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's weather officials issued a yellow dust alarm for most of the nation Sunday as the worst-of-the-year yellow dust hits South Korea.

The yellow dust warning has been issued for most of the nation except for southern regions such as North and South Jeolla provinces and the southern island of Jeju, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). In those less-affected areas, the KMA issued a dust advisory.

Just received word from the home land that my younger brothers wife just delivered her first child. Samuel Geoffrey Mitchell arrived in this world at 9.30am NZ time after putting my sister-in-law Mary through an easy labor of only 29 hours. I'd love to say I understand Mary, but I'm a male. The email I just received reads.

Baby arrived at 9.30am NZ time. 29hrs labor, Mary's really tired.
Samuel Geoffrey Mitchell 7lbs with lots of black hair which comes from
Mary's mums side (Lebanese). I got to see the baby come out but Andrew
and Geoff decided that they would stay on the other side (too much info
for them).

Congratulations Andy and Mary. Now comes the easy part, not messing up a human being. :-)

Today is a Sad Day

I woke up this morning to feed my fish "Blue" to discover that somehow he had jumped out of the fish tank and dried up. He must have been there at least 2 days as I didn't see him yesterday.

Definitely not ready to be a parent anytime soon. If I can't get a fish to live more than a year then I'm obviously not allowed anything bigger to play with

Skiing is for Pussies

Permalink 09:03:44 pm Categories: Life In Korea

So Katie, myself and 15 odd other peeps spent last weekend snowboarding. Tom was right, I should have been on more ski trips with them this year. Now when I say ski I really mean snowboard 'cause skiing is for pussies - thats right Tom and Dave, you heard me. Get off those planks and join the real men (and women ....Kath).

I believe a good time was had by all especially our friend Grant who was so extremely happy that he passed out allowing Katie's lipstick to accidentally fell all over his back.

Unfortunately I forgot (both days) to take my camera with me and have Dave, who by the way must have been born with skis attached to his feet, take photos. He clocked himself at 105 km/h using his fancy GPS thingy. Thankfully Ben took lots of photos which are in his Face Book Album. (A link will come when Face Book decides to stop doing maintenance. Tom also found the answer to our mild winter while. Read his blog to find out why.

More photos can be found in the YeongPyeong - Feb 07 album on kiwiot.
