Naming Kids in Korea

03:40 Wed 8th Mar 2006 (GMT +9 Seoul)

Have you ever wondered why Asian children come to our countries. Yep is because of teachers like me. Every 2 months we have an influx of new students at our school, and every 2 months I have to come up with new names. This month I decided that we needed more interesting names than "Peter", "John", and "Chris". So here is a list of some of the more interesting names that the new children have.

Hugo, Boss, Toby, Charlie, Mo, Trae, Tye, Barney, Ribena, Bambi, Speight, Narr, Akera, Willy, Foster, Trixie, Talia, and of course my personal favorite Tyrone.

Now to be fair I put all the names on the board and let the children pick them, I even put in some semi normal names. There are names that just weren't popular. Bambam, and Bubbles would have been good and I afraid Sunil just wouldn't take.

So there you have it. It you ever meet a Korean named Barney or Bambi you now know why.
