NZ here I come

01:53 Fri 30th Jun 2006 (GMT +9 Seoul)

It's 24 hours till I leave for NZ so today is an errand day. Clean the apartment, pack my bags and hang out with friends. Ah the life of a teacher when you only have a 4 day week.

Everyone keeps asking me if I am excited, and to tell you the truth I don't know the answer to the question. I guess the reality of going home has not hit, and probably won't until I'm standing in Auckland airport being met by Nate Dog. I've been on that many planes in the last 2 and a half years that it almost seems normal to take a day out for flying. Travel time in general has been greatly distorted. I used to think driving to Christchurch was a relatively long ride, but these days I'll sit on a bus for 8-10 hours a day just to go hiking in some random place in Korea.

I think its more scary and strange to come back to NZ than exciting. The thought of people speaking English everywhere I go is also something I am not looking forward too. I don't know what it is about foreign languages, maybe the feeling of being able to get lost in your own thoughts without being distracted by other conversations, or maybe it's simply that the fact that I don't understand which makes me curious and more attentive to whats being said by body language.

In saying this I am extremely excited to see my friends again. Nate, Andy, Kent, Sarah, Whare, Steve, Ketch, Senta (and bubs) and everyone else. I've made a nice big list of people to visit or at least contact while I'm home so that no one is missed.

OK time to start the day. See everyone soon.
