Parents in Korea

Well, its been a busy last couple of weeks. For those who didn't already know my parents traveled to Asia these last few weeks spending a week in Bangkok and a week here with me in Korea. It was so much fun to actually have the opportunity to show them why I am still living here over two and half years after leaving New Zealand.

Of course not a minute of the trip was wasted. I made sure that they experienced as much of the culture, food and life style as I could possibly fit into the very short stay. We toured palaces, wandered different areas of Seoul, and spent a day at the Traditional Korean Folk Village in Yong-in. Somehow in just a week they managed to try more food and side-dishes than I have in the last two.

All-in-all it was fantastic having them here and Katie and I will miss not having them around.

Pictures of their trip are located here.

As for the rest of the week. I've decided to try and get back into rock climbing and with the weather not fantastic on Saturday I thought it would be a good chance to find the rock climbing gym near here. 3 hours later, and 2 umbrellas missing (left on a bus) and it was time to call it a failed mission. Never mind theres always next weekend right?

As for today the weather turned out gorgeous. The plan was to see if Katie could conceivably bike along the Han each day to work cutting out the sardine trip that is the green line in Seoul. This by no means is a small feat. The cycle (a little over 16kms) runs beside the Hangang (river) all the way from Yeouido to Jamsil in Gangnam, nevertheless it was worth a look so off we went.

After the shaky start of not finding a decent road down to the Han from what we thought would be the closest station we were on our way. 50-60min later there we were in front of Kts work place. Needless to say tomorrow she will be buying a bike and will attempt this 32km ride daily both for the beauty of the ride, fitness benefits and of course significantly shorter subway ride.

One last thing. Congrats goes to Dave. Cycling across Canada is no small feat. Victoria B.C. to St-John's N.L, 8929km.

There you have it. Only two weeks two shark diving take 2. See you there.
